Church Sessions Rebuke for Sarah Gregg 1869:
1)1869 'Sarah Gregg again appeared according to appointment - There was produced in reply, a letter to the Moderator of the Kirk Session here? f from the Rev.d James Crawford, Minister of Coarshill - S(Mr Crawford) has seen Francis Edgar and he at once acknowledged that he had (been?) on several occasions with Robert Hutchison seeing her (Sarah Gregg) and about the time you mention - in April 1869 - Edgar told me that Hutchison went frequently to see Sarah when he was not with him - From the fact of Hutchison having left the place and his friends not knowing where he is, I should have no hesitation in at once taking Sarah upon discipline without any further investigation in the case -the fact of his keeping out of the way shows that he is guilty. Edgar is a member (.... ... ? ) in the Parish Church here and has hitherto conducted himself well in every respect and you can believe what he says - Signed
2)1869:'On the preceding realiable information and other circumstances of the case, the Session held Robert Hutchison guilty, according to the accusation of Sarah Gregg, and at her request, took her upon discipline - She was seriously rebuked for this, to her relapse in fornication, solemnly admonished, and absolved from the scandal' John Wallace, mInister.
Session ended with prayer
