Ivie was born illegitimate on 4th Feb 1839 and baptised in April 1844 when he was 5 years old. The IGI record states Ivie as a female, but later census returns state a male.

NOTE:[Nov 1997] The Ivie born to John Gregg & Agnes Bone was according to IGI/SCR/OPR a FEMALE [SCR FR351], but later records state male.

OPR DALMELLINGTON: 'Ivie Gregg an illegitimate child of John Gregg and Agnes Bone born 4th Feb 1839 and baptised on the sabath 14th April 1844 by Rev. Robert Houston minister this parish. Hugh Murray being sponser'.
Note: Ivie appears to have been 'adopted' by Hugh Murray and family because he lived with them at least into his twenties. See census forms for No.8 Knowhead Dalmellington.
