Jean (I have also seen Jane) Gregg (P246) married John McAughtrie (P966) in 1830. One of their children, Thomas (P1775) married Margaret Robb. They lived at Trufhill Row, Waterside, Dalmellington, Ayrshire; where their son, John was born. As reported previously, John came to the United States and settled in Pittsburgh, Pa., where he was a railroad worker. His sister, Mary Jane, lived in Ohio. John married Sarah Faulds and had two sons, John (who died as a child) and Thomas (my grandfather). My grandfather, Thomas Coughtrie, was raised in the house on Rush Street and lived there until he was discharged from military service at the end of WW I. My mother recalls going to visit her Aunt Mary Jane in New Straitsville. In addition to my mother, G. Lucille, Thomas and his wife, Gertrude Berberich, had a son, Thomas Berberich, who was a decorated US Navy pilot in WW II. Thomas B. Coughtrie and his wife Betty, had three children, Timothy, Mary and Sarah. Regrettably, both Thomas B. and Timothy passed away. Tim had a young daughter at the time of his death; but the direct line ended with him.
