I have a transcription of a document dated 1783 which reads:
"Typed Version of Photocopy of Original Document. Deed signed by Elisabeth McGawn
Know all men by these presents that I Elizabeth McGawn relict of the deceast James Gregg of Smiddy green, Whereas the deceast John McAdam Esquire late of Craigangillan by Tack dated the fifteenth day of February Seventeen and Eighty three years Sell and in Tack and Afredation Lett to William Wallace in auliber lien his heirs assignees and subtenants, All and Haill that house and yeard lately possessed by his deceast father bounded on the north by the high way on the west nine feet above the foord of the water of muck, upon the east by the way of the bridge and on the south by the said water, likeways the yeard is bounded upon the east by the way leading to the cattle market on the north , by a yeard belonging to James Wilson James Reid and John Wallet on the west by a yeard belonging to Alex Baird and on the south by a yeard belonging to Andrew Limson all lying in the mains of Dalmellington and the shire of Ayr and that for all the days years Terms and space of Nine hundred and Ninety nine years from and after his entry thereto which was thereby declared to be and begin at the term of Martinmas Seventeen and Eighty two years notwithstanding the date thereof and thenceforth to be peacably possessed and enjoyed by the said William Wallace and his foresaids during the said space before mentioned without molestation of impediment whatsoever – Which tack the said John McAdam bound and oblige himself to warrant at all hands and against all clearly as the law will For the which causes and on the other part the said William Wallace bound and obliges him his heirs Executors and successors whatsoever to content and pay yearly to the said John McAdam his heirs Executors or assignees the sum of sixteen shillings and eight pence here yearly beginning the first terms payment thereof at whitsunday Seventeen and Eighty three and so furth yearly and termly during the currency of the said Tack as also the said William Wallace bound and obliged him and his foresaids that his heirs the first year after their entry to the said possession should pay one years rent with restriction foresaid by way of entry and that his assignees or singular successors should pay one real years rent of the subjects in the same way as is used in feu holdings As the said Tack containing an obligation to uphold and maintain on said property and leave them so at the expiration of the said tack that houses built or to be built thereon clause of warrandice and sundry other clauses more fully bears and whereas the said William Wallace by his assignation bearing date the ninth day of April Seventeen and Eighty three years In consequence of certain sum of money advanced and paid to him by the deceast James Gregg my said husband as the agreed on worth and value of the benefit of the foresaid Tack therefore he by said assignation made constituted and ordained the said James Gregg his heirs Executors assignees Subtenants his (the said William Wallace's) assignees in and to the said Tack and assidation itself during the whole years terms and days -------------- to ----------------- the said James Gregg entry to begin at the foresaid term of Martinmas Seventeen and Eighty two notwithstanding of said assignation and to all clauses and obligements therein contained profits and ------ ------------------------------------------------------------ therethrough and to all action competent there anent as the said assignation containing clauses of
