On the 7 April 1861 Census - they were living at an address which looks like 7 Gt King St, Edinburgh but the writing is very bad. James is shown as a cabinet maker born in Mauchline, Ayrshire. Son John is shown as an advocate in practice and Lewis Sym, daughter of Lewis Gregg and James Sym is visiting on the day of the census. But there is no sign of Charles - she DIED IN 1876
