MARGARET GREGG bc 1836 Child appears in 1841 census (& never again )without daughter confirmation but as both grandmothers were Margaret. This is most likely to be a daughter. Unfortunately some daughters in this family went out to service about the age of 10yrs. She may have died early or married from Service.

Hi, I think the Margaret Gregg on your website, b. to Thomas Gregg and Marion Caldwell abt 1836 and who disappears after 1841 census, is my great great grandmother.
This person married Robert Gilmour in 1854 (b. Ireland) and had a family including my great grandfather, John Gilmour. She died aged 48 in 1884 in Newton-on-Ayr.
John Gilmour married Annie Clement in 1875, in Patna, and their daughter Mary, b 1898, married George Cameron in 1922.
My father, also George, was born in 1925, in Prestwick. I have been interested seeing your extensive information. Kind regards, Jim Cameron

Email May 24 2018: Hi, I think I have found Margaret Gregg on the 1851 census. There is a Margaret Greg (sic) as a house maid at Aldinna Farm in Barr. It has her age as 17. The Head of household is Robert Rogerson aged 37, a shepherd.
I assume this Margaret is my GG Grandmother, who married Robert Gilmour. Hope this is of interest. Jim Cameron

(i) Partner Mr Armstrong - Daughter Marion went by name Marion Armstrong except for birth registration (20 Dec 1868). Marion married William Allison 24 Jul 1891 (Ref 6) still using Armstrong.
(ii) Married John Harvie/Harvey in 1876 in Barr (Scotlands People Index) and died 26 May 1908 in Barr (Ref 7)

Hi, my name is catherine aitken and was interested in your website I recently came across
.Ive been doing my family tree and my husbands for some time now but its my husbands yours is connected too in some way.
He is decendant from Thomas Greig and Marion Caldwell from Barr.
They are his grt,grt grandparents through their daughter Sarah Greig b. 1850 who was married to Thomas Ross at Glasgow on 13 july 1873.
Thomas was also born in Barr he was son of James Ross and Sarah McGarva.
Sarah Greig and Thomas,s daughter Barbara Jane Ross married Daniel Rankin in Glasgow, and their daughter Mary Ann Rankin was my husbands grandmother.
It seems you possibly may have a connection to my husband Angus. ..Daniel Rankins parents were Donald Rankin and Mary Ann Gregorson(Mcgregor) from Oban, Argyll.
Mary Ann was the granddaughter of John Gregorson of Ardnitornish(He is direct decendant from Rob Roy Mcgregors family) and also Murdoch Maclaine and Jane Campbell of Mull(decend from scottish royalty and robert the Bruce).
We were surprised too find out who we were connected to as my mother in law only knew her grandparents names and had no idea she was decendent from gentry .
Mary Ann Gregorson left Mull at a young age, married Daniel, had 2 children and also died very young aged 24 in Govan!.
I noticed you were also researching Burns .I am also researching my grand father Robert Burns from Ayrshire he was born 1865,
His father was James Burns who was from Ayr, born around 1830 and im still trying to find who his parents are (I cant find his death record in glasgow.)
Maybe a long shot, I could be decendant from Rabbie Burns who knows!! Anyway hopefully this may help your family tree in some way. You could let me know, many thanks Cathy Aitken
