Allan inherited the 'Gregg Fiddle' after his wifes death(Mary Thomson Gregg P509) and later gave it away to a friend (James Niven) who eventually gave it it to John Weir (Chairman of Bachelors Club Tarbolton). J Weir presented it to the National Trust for Scotland in 1997 via Wallace Galbriath(Ayrshire Fiddle Orchestra leader).

Allan Carswel l24th May 1955 at Ballchmile Hospital, Mauchline Ayrshire. His normal address was 36 Smithfield Crescent Darvel, Ayrshire.
His Death Cert shows the informant as his son Alan Carswell and his parents as Alan Carswell Deceased and Mary Bryden Deaceased

Mary Gregg P509 was the last member of the Gregg family to own the Gregg Fiddle. (Sometimes known as the Burns Fiddle).

Mary inherited the 'Gregg Fiddle' from her father John Gregg P507. After Mary's death, her husband Allan Carswell P510 gave it away to a friend (James Niven), who eventually gave it to John Weir (Chairman of Bachelors Club Tarbolton). Major John Weir presented it to the National Trust for Scotland in 1997 via Wallace Galbriath(Ayrshire Fiddle Orchestra leader).
