On a torn page in the Ayr parish register a child is recorded to have been born in 1756 to James Greg & Janet Henderson.
OPR AYR: '......... ....... to James Greg and Janet Henderson his spouse born 18th and baptised 19th February 1756'.
Unfortunately the Name and gendre was missing but an OPR birth entry for 1775 at Ayr was found by Matthew Greig[Giffnock] for a Margaret Greg marriage to William Baird

Later The OPR Marriage for Margaret reads: 'William Baird sailor and Margaret Greg daughter of James Greg Dancing Master gave in their names to be proclaimed in order to marriage and after proclamation they were married accordingly on 22nd July 1775'. They also named their first child JAMES. It is very likely the marriage refers to Margaret daughter of James and Janet, where the birth entry is torn.
